Dog in the House WRITING CLUB
Tell us about your new dog living in your home and send us a picture or two. We promise to write back and possibly feature your new dog on our website. Encourage your children to write to us, we would love to hear from them!

Before you pick up your NEW DOG
Finding your new dogs’ blanket, plush toy and mat or bed a few weeks in advance can work to your advantage. Have a family member sleep with or put their scent on these items before your pick up your dog can be a life saver when it comes to ’settling them in’. Remember that dogs go by scent first and foremost so it’s of upmost importance to have a few transition items that your dog will quickly associate with safety & security as it adapts to its new home surroundings. A toy, blanket, and mat and/or bed that they will be resting and sleeping on with your scent will quickly make you the alpha dog in this new situation and your new dog will associate you and his new pack mates scent with a safe & secure place to live. This new found security along with a nutritious diet, stimulation and stable environment will give this new member of your family a strong basis for growth and bring joy as well as unconditional love for many years to come.
Giftware & Apparel
Dogs of every shape and size will always find gourmet treats and fresh water on hand in our store. Their guardians, meanwhile, are invited to check out the myriad of coats, sweaters, collars and harnesses on their canines, since fit is important as style when it comes to selecting fashions & accessories for the pooches to wear. Carriers, bowls, blankets, towels and feeders are abound for cats and dogs whose owners enjoy incorporating their pets’ accessories with their home décor.
Bakery Display Case
The highlight of someone’s first visit at Bark & Fitz is our bakery display case that features treats from ‘The Barkery’ from Stratford Ontario. Mailman Fingers, Poochie Sushi, Canine Canolli, Woofles & Domutts are the current favourites and seasonal treats change on a monthly basis. We have carrot, apple or banana birthday cakes with cookie letters & bone shape biscuits that once ordered are topped off with freshly made icing that consists of cream cheese, peanut butter, honey and a dab of cream.
Cakes & cookies are all made with human grade ingredients with no extra sugar or salt added. Icing on cookies are made with yogurt & what looks like chocolate is carob. Only natural sweeteners are used.
